Ronnie Amadi with the Calgary StampedersElite Sports Management client Ronnie Amadi signed with the 2008 Grey Cup Champion Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League.

Amadi (6' 0", 185), a defensive back from the University of Kansas, signed with the Stampeders on June 9, 2009. Since that time, he has made an impact on the coaches and was recently named one of the starting cornerbacks.

"I’m still learning about the CFL and the differences in the Canadian game," Amadi said on a team blog. "The game is fast and the field is big and there’s definitely still more for me to learn."

Amadi spent the 2008 season with the New York Dragons of the Arena Football League. In 2007, he played for the Green Bay Blizzard and led Arena Football League 2 in passes defended with 36.

Amadi recorded 77 career tackles for the Jayhawks and also had a blocked kick and a forced fumble. His best collegiate season came in 2004 when he made 34 tackles and broke up five passes.

"The only thing missing here in Calgary is my twin brother Donnie," said Amadi. "We played high school together, we played college together at Kansas and we played Arena-2 together in Green Bay. That was the last time we played together because after that, I moved on to play in Arena-1."
