Professional: Signed as a free agent with the Edminton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League (CFL) in April 1998. Donovan saw playing time in the preseason for the team.

College: Tyler’s career record as a starter for the Wisconsin Badgers was 12-3. Three of his victories came when he guided the team back from two fourth quarter deficits and a fourth quarter tie. Donovan ranks 10th on UW’s career passing yardage and completions lists with 3,227 and 235. He is also second in school history for his career completion rate of .588. In his senior season, he earned the starting job in fall camp and started all 13 games. He received a consensus honorable mention All-Big Ten selection and was named UW’s offensive MVP. His season’s 2,607 passing yards and 23 total touchdowns put him second on both lists (most passing yards and touchdowns responsible for in a season) in Badger history. His 17 passing touchdowns in 2007 tied him for fourth on the list of most passing touchdowns in a single season as well. Donovan also holds the school record for most yards in a single game with 419 against Illinois (third for passing yards in a single game with 392 in the same outing).

High School: Through High School, Donovan was ranked among the top 25 players in the Midwest and the number two player in Wisconsin by Rivals.com and he was listed among the top 15 players in Midwest by SuperPrep. His senior year honors included: PrepStar and SuperPrep All-American, Associated Press state player of the year (WI), first-team all-state acclaim from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and Wisconsin Football Coaches Association. He was also given first-team all-area and all-conference kudos, honorable mention all-state and first-team all-area as a junior. Donovan was a Preps Plus student-athlete and member of Principal’s Advisory Committee. He completed 99 of 171 passes for 1,650 yards and 16 TDs, as well as rushed for 455 yards on 45 carries his senior year. The team was state Division I runner-up in 2002. Tyler lettered in football, basketball, track and baseball.
